Study Programmes

In the following academic years, EMUNI University plans to implement master and doctoral study programmes with international comparability in terms of the duration of the studies, credit points, contents and professional and academic titles. Some of the programmes have already been notified with the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (SQAA), while others are currently in the process of accreditation and notification. We expect for the first of the programmes to be implemented in the academic year 2014/ 2015. All the details concerning the enrolment will be posted on the EMUNI University website.

The study programmes to be implemented are as follows:


1. Study programmes, notified with SQAA and entered into register:

Doctoral study programme, 3rd Bologna cycle: ‘Criminal Justice and Security’

  • 3 years, 180 ECTS
  • The students deepen their knowledge in the fields of the understanding of the social, psychological, philosophical, economic, behavioural, historical and political perspectives of crimes, deviancy and criminal justice system. They are able to contribute towards the understanding of trends in the area of control activities, the functioning of formal social control institutions (the police, prosecution, courts, prisons, intelligence services), informal social control (socialization factors, family, school, associations, civil society) and institutionalised informal control (detective agencies, private security companies). They are able to monitor and detect crime or other deviant actions in the society, examine criminal procedure, and to understand and improve the police activities and the work of the prosecution and criminal sanction enforcement.

  • The programme was developed by University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security.

Master study programme, 2nd Bologna cycle: ‘Intercultural Business Communication’

  • 2 years, 120 ECTS
  • The students gain the ability to communicate effectively in complex business environments, such as international companies and small and medium enterprises planning the process of internationalization. They acquire a solid knowledge of the cultural characteristics of the countries where the languages they have studied are spoken and understand the dynamics of intercultural communication. The graduates are qualified to work in management and intercultural business environment, public and private institutions, analytical firms, etc.
  • The programme was developed by University of Urbino "Carlo Bo".

2. Study programmes in the process of the accreditation with SQAA:
Master study programme, 2nd Bologna cycle: 'Euro-Mediterranean and Intercultural Studies'

  • 2 years, 120 ECTS
  • The programme focuses on the fields of law, economics, history, political systems, diplomacy and intercultural dialogue, and is qualifies the students for professions requiring an advanced understanding of issues relating to the European and Mediterranean area. It examines the political, economic, social and cultural aspects of the Mediterranean, European Union and their surroundings, with a view on the current developments and changes in the area. The graduates acquire a general understanding of the main characteristics of the Euro-Mediterranean region with a special emphasis on political, business and cultural issues as well as detailed knowledge of the social, economic and other aspects in this field.
  • Professional title: magister/ magistrica evromediteranskih študij

Professional upgrading study programme: 'Euro-Mediterranean Studies'

  • 1 obligatory, 1 elective course (total 10 ECTS), 50 contact hours
  • The programme deals with the understanding and examination of the international relations, geo-political, archaeological, cultural, anthropological perspective, legal-institutional, and economic perspectives. Through the elective courses participants can deepen their knowledge of social security, diplomacy, economy, geopolitics, anthropology of the region, regional tourism, archaeology, gender issues, environmental issues and higher education and research projects. The participants are trained to perform analytical work relating to the Euro-Mediterranean area and gain knowledge in humanities, social and political sciences and case studies. They improve their communicational skills, thus contributing towards more effective information exchange among governmental, non-governmental, social and political organizations.

3. Study programmes in the process of notification with SQAA:
Master study programme, 2nd Bologna cycle: 'European Studies and EU External Relations'

  • 2 years, 120 ECTS
  • The study programme deals with the basic contents of the EU external relations and those aspects of European integration that are the basis for the formation and implementation of the EU external relations. The students deepen their knowledge of the EU legal order, European business law, EU external policies, energy security, climate change, environmental protection in the EU, etc. The study programme can provide a suitable professional training for lawyers to perform newly emerged tasks and duties (particularly in Slovenia and within the EU) that require specific professional qualifications as well as additional professional knowledge and skills of lawyers.

  • The programme was developed by the University of Maribor, Faculty of Law.

Master study programme, 2nd Bologna cycle; 'Management and Quality in Education'

  • 1 year, 60 ECTS
  • The interdisciplinary study programme provides students with basic knowledge of management, economics, law, education and organisational and behavioural sciences, as well as specialised knowledge in the field of educational management. The graduates are able to perform the most demanding tasks of education planning, development and management and develop critical perspective, social and communication skills for group work leadership. The students deepen their knowledge form the point of view of schools as organizations and are qualified to search for new sources of knowledge in the field of management and quality of education.
